Take a break from the beach and visit some of Myrtle Beach's most interesting sights. Take a self-guided tour of the historic Battleship North Carolina, learning about the pivotal role this ship played in World War II. Visit one of the oldest homes in the county, the Bedon Lucas House, built in the 1820s.

You will want to see the impresive Cape Romain Lighthouses, standing at 65 and 150 feet tall, and built in 1827 and 1857. Learn more about the life of Charles Pickney, and original drafter and signer of the Constitution, at the Charles Pickney National Historic Site. Explore colonial life in the area with a visit to Colonial Dorchester State Historic Site, where you will find two structures built in the 1750s. Take a tour of the 1870s-built Haig Point Lighthouse, where you will also find a keeper's cottage and a plantation on the grounds. At the Hobcaw Barony , you will find a 12,000 acre rice plantation, an 18th century slave village, and several historic structures.

You can also tour the Hopsewee Plantation, built before the Revolutionary War and once owned by Thomas Lynch, a signer of the Declaration of Independence. Visit the pre-Revolutionary Kaminski House, filled with antiques and artwork. Morris Island Lighthouse is one of the oldest lighthouses in the state, and is viewable only by sea. You will love spending time exploring the many sights in the Myrtle Beach area.
