Unique Museums in Myrtle Beach

There's more to Myrtle Beach that sandy beaches, world class golf courses, and great shops. Myrtle Beach is also home to several unique museums, unlike any you can find in other locations. On your getaway to Myrtle Beach, take some time to explore these unique museums for a new and exciting look at the area.

The Country Farm Museum is located in nearby Green Sea, South Carolina, and features an expansive collection of farming history exhibits and memorabilia. The museum spans 10,000 square feet and gives you a unique look at the area's farming history with a variety of exhibits that explore how farmers tended their crops decades ago as well as how farming families throughout the South lived. You can see tractors from yesterday and today, farm toys, an old farm kitchen from yesterday, and more. While you are at the Country Farm Museum, be sure to stop by the gift shop and pick up some DVDs, t-shirts, and other souvenirs.

Take a walk down memory lane when you visit the Myrtle Beach National Wax Museum. Some of the scenes you can enjoy at this wax museum include The Last Supper, the Garden of Eden, the first space flight, a haunted graveyard, a scene from the Revolutionary War, and more. The Myrtle Beach National Wax Museum is located at 1000 North Ocean Boulevard.

The South Carolina Hall of Fame gives you an interesting look at the most influential people in South Carolina's history. Here, you can find exhibits on a range of individuals, including artists, bankers, clergyman, and others who have left their mark on this fine state. Some of the many figures you can learn more about at the South Carolina Hall of Fame include President Andrew Jackson, Jazz legend Dizzy Gillespie, painter Jasper Johns, author Elizabeth Coker, and many others. The South Carolina Hall of Fame is located near the Myrtle Beach Convention Center at 2101 North Oak Street.

Just 35 miles outside of Myrtle Beach in the small town of Georgetown, South Carolina, you will find the Rice Museum. The Rice Museum is a wonderful place to learn more about how the rice crop has shaped the economy and history of South Carolina. This museum is home to a variety of exhibits, artifacts, maps, photos, and more covering the early history of the crop in colonial days through the present. The museum also hosts special temporary exhibits and events as well, including the Low Country Artists Annual Exhibition, the Georgetown County Watercolor Annual Exhibition, and more. The Rice Museum is located at 633 Front Street in Georgetown.
