The
Little River Blue Crab Festival is an annual event that takes place near Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Every year, locals and tourists from all over the state come to the town of
Little River to celebrate and preserve the atmosphere and culture of the area. The next Blue Crab Festival will take place on May 16th and 17th of 2009 and will mark the twenty-seventh anniversary of the festivities.
The Blue Crab Festival began in 1981 as a small festival and has since grown into an award-winning event that attracts visitors and patrons from afar. Initially, the goal was to draw support for local businesses and help stimulate the local economy. Today, the festival has grown large and profitable but continues the tradition of community development by making sure all patrons have a great time.
Every year, the Blue Crab Festival celebrates family fun with many activities. Last year's events included arts and crafts, great music, amazing food, a fun kids' area, business booths, and many community groups. This amazing street festival is well known for its live music with many local talents performing.
The festival is made possible by many local sponsors and community contributions. However, the funds from the Blue Crab Festival are poured back into the community by year around events such as holiday parades and other smaller seasonal festivities like the Annual Intracoastal Christmas Regatta.
The festival is always looking for volunteers and sponsors to help keep this local tradition possible. Interested parties should visit their website for more information at
