Constitution Week at Charles Pickney National Historic Site is an annual event that takes place in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina at Snee Farm. It is a popular event for both locals and visitors. It takes place on Constitution/Citizenship Day every year in September. At the event, there is a naturalization ceremony the swears in U.S. immigrants as American citizens. The reason that the event is held on land dedicated to Charles Pickney is because he presented a document that included a provision for naturalization to the Consitutional Convention. Pickney was one of the primary framers of the U.S. Constitution, which he also signed. This took place in 1787.
Other activities at this event include living history reenactments with actors in period dress. Visitors can sign a replica scroll of the U.S. Constitution. This event is perfect for families because it is not only educational, but also completely free and open to the public.
