If one of a kind works are what you're looking for, the Craftsman Classic Arts & Crafts Festival is your one stop shop for anything you could possibly need. First held in 1982, the annual weekend long Festival boasts a hefty lineup of over 250 talented artists and craftspeople. Each piece exhibited is checked for its one of a kind nature and handmade status.
Each work of art at the Craftsman Classic Arts & Crafts Festival has been checked by the Festival's hosts for authenticity and originality. Each piece must be hand made by the exhibitors using their own design and craftsmanship. During the fair visitors can purchase pieces to take home with them and/or simply watch how each piece was made as the exhibitors demonstrate their craft.
The Craftsmen's Classic was founded by the Gilmore family of Greensboro, North Carolina. Clyde Gilmore, a jewelry maker, wanted to create a nationwide group of artists and craftsmen to gather and showcase their totally original works for the public. The first ever gathering was the Christmas Classic held on Thanksgiving Weekend over 35 years ago.
The Craftsmen's Classic has grown considerably since the first show over Thanksgiving Weekend. Currently there are ten Craftsmen's Classic Arts & Crafts Festivals held annually all over the South East region. There are Spring Festivals held in South Carolina and Virginia, Fall Festivals held in Virginia, and three Christmas Festivals held in Virginia, South Carolina and North Carolina. The biggest Craftsmen's Classic is held in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina every summer.
