Memorial Day is truly a great time to visit Myrtle Beach. There is so much to do over Memorial Day Weekend. There is a large parade each year in Myrtle Beach celebrating Memorial Day, and celebrity guests often serve as the Grand Marshal of the parade. The Grand Marshal of the 2011 parade, for example, will be John McCain. Many celebrities ride floats in the parade.
Another event over Memorial Day weekend is Black Beach Week. This annual event celebrates African American culture. Many African Americans come to Myrtle Beach during Memorial Day for this event. Black Biker Week is also a popular event during Memorial Day weekend, in which hundreds of African American motorcyclists come to Myrtle Beach for an annual rally.
There are a variety of activities that celebrate the military as well in Myrtle Beach, and the downtown area is full of Memorial Day festivities for families.
