The Sun Fun Festival in Myrtle Beach, SC is an annual event that is fun for everyone, whether you are young or not so young; there's something for everyone. You might enjoy activities such as bike riding, surfing, swimming or kite flying. Some of the other activities include bikini contests, light shows, sail boat races, a 5 K run, music and lots of good food.
If you like parades, there is the Annual Sun Fun Parade float competition. There are such beautiful floats that represent
Ripley's Aquarium, Hawaiian Tropic, Century 21, Mars' Search for Life, and others.
If sandcastles are your thing, there is a competition to build the largest sandcastle. Myrtle Beach holds the Guinness World Record for the tallest (more than 32 feet high), and longest sandcastles (more than 60 feet wide).
There are lots of different contests, one fairly new one is a car give away. Several keys are hidden in a mountain of sand. You'll need to get down on your hands and knees searching through a mountain of sand to find the key that opens the door.
If you are a fan of beach music you will enjoy the concerts held in the pavilion. No matter what your music preferences are you will find something you enjoy. The music genres include retro, Motown, golden oldies, the blues and more. Every year such famous music moguls as Billy Scott and the Prophets, the Bottle Cap Bandits, Soul Function, Otis Redding and the Late James Brown.
