Coastal Federal Field in Myrtle Beach, SC, is home of the class "A" Myrtle Beach
Pelicans baseball team, where they've been drawing fans since 1999.
When Coastal Federal Field was being constructed in 1998 to prepare for the Pelicans, the field was referred to as the field of dreams.
The Pelicans are part of the Carolina league, and have competed fiercely since the team was founded. In the team's first season they made it all the way to the league's championship, the Mills Cup Championship series. However, Hurricane Floyd blew in to town and cancelled the championship. The Pelicans and the Wilmington Blue Rocks were named co-champs of the league.
The following year, not only did the Pelicans repeat an appearance in the Championship, but they won with an over whelming sweep of the series. Since then the Pelicans have established a winning tradition in Myrtle Beach, with many players moving up to double and triple "A" ball and even to the big leagues.
Fans are drawn to the Pelicans winning efforts and for some of the great events to honor the fans. Fans delight in various promotional events like, bring your dog to the park day, where fans bring their four legged friends to enjoy the game and the first 500 dogs get a free bandana. Also, fans are given keep — sakes such as bobble heads and calendars.
The Pelicans averaged over 3,000 fans a home game, over the season 215, 059 attended the games. Come and join these fans and watch tomorrow's big league stars today with the Pelicans at Coastal Federal Field.
