The Haig Point Lighthouse, standing 40 feet tall and located on the tip of Daufuskie Island, was opened in 1873 and is accessible only by boat.
The secluded island used to house a large plantation, destroyed during the Civil War. However, the two-story keeper's house still stands and can still be admired today. The foundation of the original mansion is visible too.
The lighthouse was decommissioned in 1936, but the island has since been made into a private resort.
