Myrtle Beach International Airport is owned by Horry County Department of Airports, South Caroline in United States. It is located on the former Myrtle Beach Air Force Base. It is three miles away from the central business district of Myrtle Beach. The airport is spread over an area of 3,795 acres. It operates around 150 flights per day including general, commercial, taxi and military flights. The airport can base 52 aircrafts.
There are seven gates and six gate areas at the airport. There are several shopping and dining facilities in each gate area. You can have pizzas, coffees and buy gifts for your loved ones. The terminal building of the airport has been recently renovated. Hard wood floor has replaced the carpet floor that had been there for years. The redevelopment work has been undertaken to accommodate the projected larger passenger traffic.
Several tourist attractions that make Myrtle Beach such an important tourist destination are located within easy reach from the airport. There is a 60 mile long beach called the Grand Strand. There are also numerous spectacular golf courses and other tourist attractions.
Several national and international aircraft companies run their daily non-stop air services to 20 destinations. Passengers are expected to arrive at the airport at least two hours prior to the scheduled flight departure time. There is a car park facility directly opposite to the terminal for picking or dropping the passengers. Passengers arriving at the airport need not worry about transport to their destination as there are several car rental agencies that provide all types of cars and taxis.
