Myrtle Beach Pelicans Class-A Baseball Team

The famous Myrtle Beach Pelicans have been a Class-A Baseball Team for many years, and they stand out as one of the greatest teams in the entire region near Myrtle Beach. The franchise originally started back in 1998, when its team was first given a stadium to play baseball in. The baseball season started up after being dead to the region for approximately seven years.

The Pelicans were a professional team that came on the scene and made a large impact in the baseball world just after their first season. They were originally called the "Birds." After they advanced to the Mills Cup Championship, they gained the respect of a new Myrtle Beach fanbase. Some may remember Marcus Giles, who had a tremendous batting average and many hits. The numbers that this player possessed helped him soon MVP honors, giving him the distinction of being the only Pelican to ever be named an MVP in the franchise's history. Several years later, in 2001 one, the Pelicans suffered a breakdown. It was the first year that they had not qualified for the post-season with a small defeat through their 71-67 record. The famous player Adam LaRoche played extremely well with the Pelican in this year, giving visitors a chance to look into the future to see what other good things were around the corner. 

Fans could rejoice in the many players that have come through the Myrtle Beach Pelicans team on their way to the big leagues. Players such as Chuck James became one of the most extraordinary players of his team after going through the Pelicans and signing onto the famous Braves roster.
