The Pine Lakes International Country Club started in 1927, and visitors have enjoyed this central location where golfers and visitors can come to compete and admire the views of Myrtle Beach. The area is well-groomed and several care-takers provide upkeep and maintanence. The area was constructed just a half mile from the coast, and the design of the course is accredited to the architect Robert White. Robert White was the first president of the Professional Golf Association of America, and he is also the co-found of the American Society of Golf Course Architects. Visitors can view many of the lakes and green fairways that sit near the country club.
The main part of the course incorporates the Scottish culture, giving visitors a varied, cultural view of the area. Interestingly, the first nine holes' corridors that were originally put in place have not been changed since they were first constructed. Golfers can now use the efficient pump station and admire the special SeaDwarf Paspalum grass that has been put in place and irrigated with specail high salt. This grass has been specifically engineered to require less maintanence such as irrigation and fertilizer while still maintaining a bright "green" look. Visitors have the option to use a SoloRider golf cars for those that need them. There are several features and rules that go along with these carts, including, rough terrain capabilities, play from using the elevated seats, simple entrance and exits with a 360-view swivel seat. The SoloRider reservations are needed approximately 2 days in advance.
